A plant pot formed from the clay of Kusatsu on the shores of Lake Biwa, inspired by ancient pottery and modeled after the shape of an egg. A modern reinterpretation of Kusatsu ware, a ceramic tradition from 1,400 years ago, the aged-looking patina evokes the passage of time.

Left unglazed, this piece is decorated with a local Lake Biwa mud known as Seta Silt, diluted and poured to capture the process of flow on the surface. The result is a textural finish that makes the pot look like it has emerged straight from the earth. The rim is intentionally cracked to evoke ancient pottery shards or the sculptural beauty of a cracked egg. No two are alike, creating expressive experiences unique to each user.

This plant pot was designed to provide an optimal environment for plants. Its unglazed finish, slanted inner walls, and wide hole in the base help increase breathability and improve water drainage. This reduces the chance of root rot and other problems that arise from standing water.
