Tokusa Medium Bowl
This medium bowl is designed with a tokusa pattern drawn by hand with a broom-like brush to make the thin blue lines centered to the middle of the bowl.
Beloved since the Edo period (1603–1868 CE), this pattern of straight vertical lines is inspired by the Japanese plant tokusa, known in English as rough horsetail. It is regarded as a symbol of growth and prosperity as it grows unwaveringly upwards.
Originally made in a size to serve a single portion of sashimi or pickled vegetables in a traditional style meal at a tea ceremony, it can be used for many other menus, such salads or a tofu dish or any kind of dish with a sauce.
