A gently rounded square shape, this medium bowl features rustic patterns hand-painted with oniita, an iron-rich mineral pigment. After decoration, it is coated in Shino glaze and fired. Every single pattern is slightly different, exemplifying the wabi sabi beauty of handcrafting—no two bowls are alike. Each bowl is made from mogusa clay and coated with Shino glaze, creating a subtle color unique to every piece. The Shino glaze, made from feldspar, naturally contracts during firing, creating a fine, crackled, and porous pattern known as kairagi—a "plum-blossom skin" texture cherished for its organic beauty. The warm orange clay body shows through where the glaze is thinner, especially toward the base, creating a pleasing color contrast. Over time, the bowl ages gracefully, developing more character with each use.
