These Echizen lacquerware teacup coasters are beautifully designed with an auspicious plum blossom motif and coated with lacquer in a deep vermillion red. 

Each coaster is crafted in the shape of a plum blossom in full bloom, with the five petals carefully layered next to each other. The petals are neatly shaped on the backside as well, with all edges smooth and rounded. The curvatures of the pedals highlight the matte shine of the lacquer coat. 

The vermillion color of the teacup coasters is called kodai-shu, which means "ancient vermilion." It has a calm blackish tone and will add a rich hue of red to the table.
